Should You Take Spanish Courses in Spain?
If you are a jetsetter and you have the money to fly to Spain and live for six months then you might flirt with the idea of taking some language classes while you are in the country. Taking Spanish courses in Spain sounds like a wonderfully romantic idea after all, doesn't it? You could then travel to all of the different Spanish speaking countries and speak like a native. Well, if you are like me, and you are part of the real world, then you know that the above scenario is very unlikely.
Most people don't have the time of the money to dedicate part of their lives to taking Spanish courses in Spain. Most people save money each year simply so that they can take a vacation to Spain or another one of the world's Spanish speaking countries. If you are able to go to Spain on a vacation, then you will certainly benefit from knowing the language. But you sure don`t have to take Spanish courses in Spain in order to do it! Instead, you can find some great online courses that will give you all you need to know.
One of the keys to finding a class that will work for you is finding something that is fun. Choose a course that offers some type of interactivity so that you aren't only sitting and wading through audio lesson after audio lesson. For most people, that type of learning can get boring very quickly, the mind will tend to wander, and they won't be able to remember what they just learned. At least that was what I've found.
Try to find a course that also gives you some info and insight on the culture of the Spanish people as well. This will help teach you the customs of the people so that you blend in rather than stick out when you are in another country. This is the best way to visit a country, with all of the knowledge you need in the language and the customs. This is probably the next best thing to taking Spanish courses in Spain.
In fact, it might be even better. Many of the courses you can take are teaching conversational Spanish, and that is just what you need to know if you want to have a great time when you are on vacation. Some of the traditional classes that you would find in Spain, and in other parts of the world, don't teach conversational Spanish, which means you would have a hard time keeping up with natives speaking the language.
I've tried a few courses, and the one that really helped was Rocket Spanish. It was fun to learn, and I found that I was able to retain the lessons - something that I've usually had trouble doing. And I was able to do it all without taking Spanish courses in Spain. I was also able to try a free trial through them, and that really helped me make up my mind.
